WOW!!! This was so easy!! I definitely be making this one again. I did add some mustard powder, garlic powder and onion powder. Put it in a casserole and topped with a bit more grated cheddar......Mmmmmmm...better than Macaroni Grill!!!! And did I mention.....SO EASY!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!!

I give this 5 stars for many reasons. Mainly that it's gooey, creamy and cheesy, but also that it's literally ONE pot.... no draining! I made this as written and it's just as easy (if not easier) to make this than it is to make a boxed mix. I doubled the recipe and it worked just fine. I'll be whipping this up often. Thanx!

Fun and the kids really enjoyed it! I usually make mac and cheese with butter/flour, milk, cheese, etc. This was very easy, and not as heavy as our usual, but with lots of cheesy goodness. The pot was a bear to clean, next time I'll use one of my hard anodized pans to make clean up easier. I agree with Consumer Reports, much better than the nasty overpriced boxed version. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I make this recipe frequently, it's a great pantry recipe for when you just need something. As others have noted, you can add mustard powder, a little hot sauce or other ingredients to modify the flavor a bit. I will sometimes stir in some chopped red bell pepper for color.

I was amazed how fast this was to whip up !! Such a nice creamy flavor. I just added a pinch of onion and garlic salt. What's great about this recipe too is that it is for just 2 people, so no left overs. Perfect quick meal for during the week with a nice salad. Thanks for sharing Barbara.
Update: Made this again, well actually a few times since but this time I added a few pinches of dry mustard with the onion and garlic salt and it was really fantastic still. The mustard added a nice little spice. I just love the ease of making it. Thanks again..
Just back to add the stars...they seem to be disappearing.....

I really like this quick and simple recipe. I added some dry onion flakes to the water, plus more salt. Used whole wheat macaroni and did have to cook it an additional 5 minutes. Also used non-dairy creamer powder mixed with water for the cream. Will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing!

Delicious, and easy! I omitted the salt and cayenne, used 1T margarine, and skim milk. Thanks!

Best mac & cheese I've ever had. I tried it with some roasted red peppers and bacon tossed in, added a nice extra flavor to make it a meal in itself instead of a side dish.

I've used this "vintage" recipe since the 80's and found it to be good. Not quite up to some of the richer recipes but still good. And it's all in one pot. And economical, too. Thanks for posting; I had forgotten it.

I also found this recipe in CR (i think it was the early 80's) and it has made me famous among all the children i bore and the extras i cared for, and even some of their parents... It's fast, easy and extremely tasty. kim, springfield, oregon
