Asparagus Bundles or Green Bean Bundles

- 2 (15 ounce) cans asparagus spears or 20 ounces long green beans
- 1⁄2 lb bacon
- 2 cloves garlic or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1⁄3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine
directions
- Gently wrap approximately 5 beans or asparagus stalks with 1/2 slice bacon and secure with toothpick. Continue until all beans/stalks are wrapped.
- Place in casserole dish.
- Simmer garlic, brown sugar and butter for 5 minutes and pour over beans/stalks.
- Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes or 350°F for 35 minutes (or until tender& hot).

This was a tasty new way to make asparagus. Even my kids enjoyed it. I liked the flavor of the sauce, however I did need to broil it for a few minutes to finish cooking the bacon. I used fresh asparagus and cooked it a few minutes longer than suggested and they were perfectly cooked,not too soft or too crunchy. Thank=you for a tasty treat.
